Playing guitar and singing, Mike Holmes is from Columbus, Ohio, and lives in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mike’s played in bands since he was 14. In fact, his teen-age band Trouble Shooter opened for the band The Guess Who! Traveling extensively during his 32 year career in the USAF, Mike performed literally around the world! Mike is also a solo performer and can frequently be seen at the honky tonks in Nashville.
Jumpin' John Allen (5 string bass) is originally from Kentucky but lives on the east side of Indy now. John is also an excellent guitar player! In fact, in nearly every band John's been in, he played guitar. John was a steady fixture rockin' the guitar in the very popular central Indiana band Lemonwheel. In addition to The Toasted Coconuts, John also performs (on guitar) with the band Business Time. They perform throughout central Indiana and well worth checking out! Jumpin' John is very talented and a great band member!
Playing drums, harmonica and singing, Jeremy Sells is the ultimate rhythm section! Jeremy is from Ft Wayne, Indiana, and lives in Fishers, Indiana. Jeremy is one of the finest drummers in the Mid-West! He was a founding member of the band Pop ‘n Fresh -- a Ft. Wayne based band head-lining the best venues in the Mid-West as well as opening for numerous national acts. Jeremy was also a founding member of the band Lemon Wheel – one of the hottest bands in Central Indiana. Jeremy played in the band American Cheese – an 80’s band playing bars, weddings, and corporate gigs throughout Central Indiana. When not playing music, Jeremy collects vintage drums and bicycles!
The Toasted Coconuts is a “Rockin’ Country” band based in central Indiana. The band lives in the “Americana” genre covering a little of everything but leans toward country and southern rock. The band was originally formed in 2005. Original members included Mike Holmes on guitar and vocals; Jeremy Sells on drums and vocals; and, Jim Newell on bass and vocals. The band stopped gigging in 2007 due to Holmes’ relocation from Indianapolis to Terre Haute. However, the band reformed in 2022 after Holmes retired from the full time USAF/Air National Guard. As of 2023, Jumpin’ John Allen replaced Jim Newell on bass.The Toasted Coconuts continue to gig primarily around central Indiana but have ventured to Chicago, NE Indiana, Western Indiana, Cincinnati, and Nashville as well as a few other spots as they re-establish themselves and their brand of music.The band is working on their first recording and have released several tunes on their You Tube site.
